The Lady Pilgrims traveled to Mishawaka on Saturday to face off against the Cavemen in an NLC clash.
Both varsity and JV came away with a win by the scores of 46-39 and 44-20 respectively.
The varsity team started to trade baskets early with Mishawaka, but towards the end were able to post a five point lead after the first.
They were able to carry that momentum going into halftime and build a seven point lead going into halftime. The girls did a great job of forcing Mishawaka into turning the ball over and keeping Mishawaka’s shooting percentage down.
The third quarter was much closer as teams continued to trade baskets and Mishawaka was able to cut the lead down to with a late run in the fourth.
It was too little too late as the Lady Pilgrims executed down the stretch to earn the victory. The Pilgrims had a great, even scoring output and this contributed to the win.
Sheedy had twelve, Gault had eleven, Dragani put in nine, and Delp put in eight.
JV tip was at 12 PM EST and despite the earlier tip-off they got off to a hot start and never looked back. The Lady Pilgrims poured in fourteen points in the first quarter and held Mishawaka to five.
The strong defense continued going into halftime as the Lady Pilgrims held Mishawaka to three points in the second to build a twelve point lead.
The third quarter was all the Lady Pilgrims as they had one of their best offensive outputs on the season putting in eighteen points and holding Mishawaka to two.
Mishawaka could not overcome the slow start and the Lady Pilgrims came away with the win.
Krupp led with thirteen, Jones had eight, and Hopple had seven of her own.
After the games today the JV team is 7-3 and the varsity team is 2-6. Next up is an away game at Laporte on 1/12. Tip off is set for 6:30 PM.
