The Plymouth Rockie Soccer team scored early and often in their Sectional Championship game Saturday night at Jackson Field in South Bend as they downed the host South Bend Riley Wildcats. The final score was 7-0.
Selvin Pagoada and Jose Rosas each scored a pair of goals to lead the Rockie offense. Zach Truitt, who had a goal off a corner kick, led the defensive shutout against the Wildcats. The Rockie “D” never let Riley gain any momentum on their offensive end of the field. The Rockies did not allow a goal in their three tournament games.
The victory moves the Rockies to 17-0-1 on the year. The sectional championship pushes the Rockies on to the IHSAA Regional next Saturday at Goshen High School. The Rockies will play the first game of the Regional against the winner of the Crown Point/Chesterton sectional game.
The Rockies were ranked 7th in the final Coach’s Poll during the season. Chesterton was ranked 3rd while Crown Point was ranked 11th.
