Plymouth Pilgrims – Junior Varsity
The Plymouth Boys Basketball team ventured off to Michigan City to compete against the Wolves JV and Varsity programs.
Head Coach Brian Wray and the Junior Varsity Pilgrims were up first on the night. Despite being down at halftime, the young Pilgrims battled back to gain the lead at the end of the third quarter. Ultimately the home team prevailed by one point, with the final score being Plymouth-35 — Michigan City-36. Freshman-Davis Wray was not only the leading scorer for Plymouth, but was the top scorer for the game with 13 points.
Plymouth Pilgrims – Varsity
With Michigan City Boys Basketball team (6-1) being one of this years potential 4A sectional opponents, Tuesday evening provided a great opportunity for Head Coach Ryan Bales and his staff. In the first half, the Pilgrims (4-6) competed hard and played some of their best basketball of the season. With the score tied at halftime (28-28), the Varsity boys took advantage of their position and started the third quarter gaining momentum right away. The Pilgrims took a 4-point lead into the final quarter of play, but the momentum quickly shifted to Michigan City as they turned up their pressure defense which in turn lead to their overall victory. The final score in the Varsity contest was Plymouth-50 — Michigan City-60. On the night the Pilgrims finished (10-19) form the 3-pt. line. The top three scorers were: Junior-Jake Reichard (17), Senior-Adam Hunter (12) and Freshman-Easton Strain (11).
Both Pilgrim teams will be back in action and on the road this weekend as they will face Elkhart Memorial-Friday night at North Side Gym and then travel down S.R. 19 to Akron to face the Tippy Valley Vikings on Saturday night.
