The Pilgrim Boys Basketball team opened their 2019 season at Walkerton Wednesday night.  The Pilgrims ran into a buzzsaw as they trailed early and fell to Glenn 64-45.  It was the opening season game for both teams.

The Falcons played an excellent first half against the Pilgrims as they doubled the Pilgrim point total in leading 36-18.  Glenn used their hustle to gain most loose ball situations and they also kept their turnovers to a minimum in the first 16 minutes of the contest.

The Pilgrims picked up the defensive intensity in the second half as Glenn only outscored the Pilgrims 28-27 in the second half.

Jake Reichard lead the Pilgrim scorers with 14 points in spite of the fact he was in foul trouble most of the night.  He picked up three fouls in the first half of play.  He got his fourth foul late in the third quarter to limit his minutes on the floor.

Ivan Winkle and Joe Barron each added 10 points to the Pilgrim cause.  Winkle also added three assists and two steals.  Brady Hissong added six rebounds to lead that category for the Pilgrims.

The opening loss drops the Pilgrims to 0-1 on the year.  Their home opener is scheduled for Saturday night as the Pilgrims host New Prairie.  JV tip-off is set for 6:15 EST.

The JV Pilgrims of Coach Brian Wray opened their season with a win over Glenn 42-37 .  The Pilgrims trailed 32-27 late in the third quarter when they went on a 10-0 run to secure the lead for good in earning their opening game victory.
