The Plymouth Pilgrim baseball team used some late run support Friday night at Wawasee to down the Warriors the final score was 11-2.
The Pilgrims got on the board first scoring one in the opening inning. Matt Dobuck homered in the 4th inning upping the Pilgrim lead to 2-0.
Wawasee added a solo run in the 4th inning cutting the Pilgrim lead to 2-1. But the Pilgrims added a trio of runs in the 6th upping their lead to 5-1. Wawasee countered with a run in their half of the 6th. But the Pilgrims put the game away with six runs in the 7th inning.
Cole Filson had the big bat on the night with three hits including a pair of doubles and two RBI’s. Jesus Luva added two hits and three RBI’s. Dobuck and Thomas Dolan also added a pair of hits.
Luva went the ditance on the mound for the Pilgrims giving up just four hits in seven innings while giving up just one earned run.
The win moves the Pilgrims to 8-4 in the NLC and 13-7 overall. They travel to Nappanee Monday for a huge conference game. Both Northwood and the Pilgrims are tied for 2nd place behind Northridge.
The JV Pilgrims fell to Wawasee Friday evening 4-3. Wawasee scored the winning run in the 7th inning.
The Pilgrims had five hits by five different players in the NLC contest. Ethan Oliver had one of those hits along with a pair of stolen bases. Skyler Aker was the starting and losing pitcher for the Pilgrims. He gave up one earned run while striking out six in his 6+ innings on the mound.
