The Plymouth Pilgrim Softball team picked up their initial victory Monday night at Centennial Park. The Pilgrims downed Culver 8-7.
The Pilgrims trailed 5-0 heading into their half of the 4th inning when they exploded for five runs of their own. With the bases loaded, Emily Hartman took one in the ribs to knock in the first run. Then on the very first pitch to Topanga Deon she hit one over the RF for an inside the park grand slam home run tying the score at 5-5.
The Pilgrims picked up three runs in the 6th inning. Ann Anders knocked home with a two run single, and then Grace Allmon knocked her in with a double.
Anders went 2-4 at the plate with two RBI’s. Stephani Galindo, Julia Kinney, and Annastasia Hutchings also had hits. Allmon picked up the win on the mound.
The win moves the Pilgrims to 1-2 on the year. They travel to Triton tonight for a 5:00 start.
The JV Pilgrims also picked up their first win Monday night at Culver. The score was 27-6.
Kayleigh Einspahr picked up the win on the mound striking out eight opposing hitters.
The Pilgrims pounded out eight hits in the victory. Asia Haines, Savannah Weston, and Einspahr had doubles. while Haines, Vandalyn Daniels, Einspahr, Amber Schrameyer, and Madison Voreis each had two RBI’s.
Weston also had a superb defensive game for the Pilgrims playing 2B.
The win moves the JV Pilgrims to 1-3 on the year. They host Glenn in Centennial Park Thursday starting at 5:00 PM.
