Pilgrims News · PHS GYMNASTS PARTICIPATE IN IHSAA SECTIONAL; HECKAMAN MOVES ON!


The Lady Pilgrim Gymnastics team participated in the IHSAA Sectional event Saturday at Wawasee.  12 schools were represented at the IHSAA event with the Pilgrims finishing in 7th place scoring 93.725 points.  Angola won the sectional by scoring 109.4 points.  The top three scoring teams get the opportunity to move on to Regional action at Huntington next Saturday.  Besides Angola, Dekalb and Elkhart Central also get to the opportunity to move to Regional action.

Junior Kyla Heckaman was the top finisher for the Pilgrims.  She finished in 6th place in the All-Around competition.  With the 6th place finish, Kyla gets the opportunity to move on to Regional competition.  Kyla scored a 34.90 on her four events on the day.  Dorothy Karris finished in 17th position scoring 31.70.  Olivia Waymouth finished 21st with a score of 26.175.

Kyla was the top scorer on the day on the Beam.  The judges awarded her a 9.225 score for her performance.  She finished 21st on the Vault (8.4), 12th on the Bars (8.225), and 11th on the Floor (9.050).

The Huntington IHSAA Regional will take place Saturday, 3/2/19.  Start time for the event is 12:00.  Sectionals from Fort Wayne Concordia and Wawasee feed into the Huntington Regional.
