The Plymouth Pilgrim Boy’s Basketball team took on their NLC rival Warsaw Friday night at The Rock.  The Homecoming crowd witnessed the Pilgrims fall to the Tigers 54-41.

The game was closely contested throughout the first half as Warsaw took a 23-19 lead at halftime.  But the third quarter proved to be the Pilgrim Achilles’ heel as they were outscored 20-7 in the period.  The Pilgrims lost their composure and committed five of their 10 turnovers in the quarter.  Also poor shot selection by the Pilgrims lead to easy Warsaw points the opposite direction.

The Pilgrims had a chance to really put pressure on the Tigers in the fourth quarter.  Trailing 52-47, Warsaw missed both ends of two free throws.  With a chance to get closer than five points with just under four minutes to go, the Pilgrims needed a defensive rebound on the second missed free throw.  Warsaw ended up with the ball and eventually hit two free throws to extend their lead, and the Pilgrims did not threaten the rest of the game.

Clay Hilliard lead the Pilgrims with 13 points.  He was only 3-11 from the field as the Pilgrims only shot 34% for the game.  This included 5-23 from the three point line as a team.  The Pilgrims did hit 10-14 from the free throw line.

The loss drops the Pilgrims to 4-2 in the NLC and 13-5 overall.  Next up is a date with Penn Tuesday evening at The Rock.  JV start time is scheduled for 6:15.

The JV Pilgrims lost to Warsaw 60-23.  Adam Hunter lead the Pilgrims with eight points.
