The IHSAA has made the draw for the IHSAA Wrestling State Finals slated for Banker’s Life Fieldhouse next Friday and Saturday. Graham Calhoun will be representing the Rockie Wrestlers at Indianapolis next weekend.
Graham wrestlers in the 170 pound weight class. The top four wrestlers from each IHSAA Semi State in each weight class have been seeded. In each instance per weight class the first place finisher will face off against the fourth place finisher. The second place finisher will be matched up against the third place finisher.
Since Graham was the East Chicago Central Semi State Champ, he is matched against the fourth place finisher from the Fort Wayne Semi State. That wrestler is Bryce Buckley, a sophomore from Eastern High School in Greentown. Graham is currently 37-1 on the year. Buckley is 34-8 on the year. This match will take place Friday night. The winner advances to round two and will have three matches on Saturday.
If Graham is able to win his match Friday night, he will take on the winner of the Derek Blubaugh (39-4) and Logan Hart (28-12) match. Blubaugh finished second at the Evansville Semi State. He is from Bloomington South. Hart finished third in the New Castle Semi State and is from Carmel High School.
On the opposite side of the bracket are a couple of top notch wrestlers. Nick South (40-0) from Columbus East won the State Championship last year in the 160 pound weight class. Another top wrestler is Elijah Mahan (37-1) from Roncalli.
The State Championship Matches will be aired on Fox Sports Indiana Saturday night. Start time will be 7:30 PM. They will also be aired on the IHSAAtv.org website. For a subscription fee, you can watch all matches of the State Tournament at TrackWrestling.com.
