Pilgrims News · LADY PILGRIM BASKETBALL MOVES TO IHSAA CHAMPIONSHIP GAME; DUNCAN GETS 100TH CAREER WIN

The Plymouth Lady Pilgrim Basketball team like to keep their fans on the edge of their seats.  Another nail-biter at Northridge High School went in favor of our Pilgrims Saturday night 37-36 over Concord.  In the process Head Coach Dave Duncan picked up his 100th career victory.

Neither team could gain a huge advantage on the other.  Concord had their biggest lead in the 2nd quarter at 20-15.  While the Pilgrims had a 28-23 lead in the 4th quarter.

The game was tied at halftime 13-13.  Both teams had opportunities to gain an advantage on their opponent, but neither team shot the ball well.

The Pilgrims came out to open the second half shooting the ball well.  They scored 17 of their 37 points in the quarter to open a 30-25 lead heading into the final eight minutes.

With the Pilgrims holding a 37-34 lead, Concord had one last opportunity to tie the game and send it into overtime.  They called a time out to discuss their strategy with 16 seconds remaining in the sectional semi final.  The Lady Minutemen worked the ball to their best perimeter shooter who fired a 3 pointer up with five seconds remaining.  The shot missed but Concord rebounded the ball putting in the 2 pointer at the buzzer making the final 37-36 in favor of the Pilgrims.

Halle Reichard hit for 12 points to lead the Pilgrims in scoring.  She also had two assists.  Cassidy Holiday added 10 points hitting six of seven from the free throw line.  Cassidy also hauled down six rebounds.  Claire Tanner put up eight points and had five rebounds.  Cece Robinson tied Holiday for the team lead in rebounds with six.

The win puts the Pilgrims at 19-5 on the year, and in the Sectional Championship game Monday night.  The Pilgrims will take on Elkhart Central, a 32-27 winner over Warsaw Saturday night.  Tip off at Northridge is scheduled for 7:00.
