The Plymouth Lady Pilgrim Basketball team continued their long road trip with a venture into Porter County to take on the Chesterton Lady Trojans. The Pilgrims came home victorious over Chesterton 52-37.
The Pilgrims got off to a great first half start as they lead Chesterton 21-9 at halftime. They continued with their assault of Chesterton throughout the 3rd quarter outscoring the Lady Trojans 17-8 in taking a 38-17 lead heading into the fourth and final quarter.
The Pilgrims hit a bump in the road for the first half of the final period as Chesterton battled back to get their double digit deficit down to 10 points with three minutes remaining in the contest. But the Pilgrims recovered hitting free throws late in the game to win the non-conference contest.
Senior Halle Reichard was hot from long distance as she nailed five of 10 shots beyond the three point line. She lead the Pilgrims with 21 points. Cassidy Holiday added 12 points and hauled down a team best four rebounds. Claire Tanner and Cece Robinson each passed for three assists. As a team the Pilgrims were 14-18 from the charity stripe in the contest.
The win moves the Pilgrims to 9-1 on the year. Next up is an NLC contest at Warsaw Saturday night. JV start time is set for 6:00.
The JV Pilgrims fell for the first time this year in the preliminary bout 28-26. The young Pilgrims only shot 23% from the field and 42% from the free throw line on the night. Lindsay Janus had 10 points while Sara Hunter added seven rebounds. The loss drops them to 9-1.
