Trailing throughout the majority of the contest, the Plymouth Lady Pilgrim Basketball team somehow found a way to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat Saturday at Goshen.  The Pilgrims ended on top 38-37.

The Pilgrims trailed at 34-28 with just over four minutes remaining.  A Halle Reichard “3” moved the deficit to 34-31 with just over three minutes remaining.  After a defensive stop, the Pilgrims had a chance to tie it with another “3”, but a Pilgrim turnover gave the ball back to Goshen.

A Pilgrim foul gave Goshen an opportunity at the free throw line.  Goshen converted one of two making the score 35-31 with under three minutes to go.

Another Reichard “3” cut the Pilgrim deficit to 35-34 with 2:33 remaining in the NLC match-up.  On the subsequent Goshen possession, the Pilgrims got the ball back with just over two minutes to go, and a chance to take the lead.

Another Pilgrim turnover and the Lady RedHawks got the ball back.  Goshen got the ball inside to their post player and she converted a two giving Goshen a three point advantage with 56 seconds remaining.

After a Pilgrim time out, the Pilgrims got the ball to Reichard who converted a 2.  The Pilgrims trailed 37-36 with 32 seconds remaining.

On the ensuing Goshen out of bounds, Kacee Peters stole the inbound pass and laid it in giving the Pilgrims their first lead since early in the first quarter at 38-37.

A Goshen miss at the other end and a quick foul by the RedHawks gave Cassidy Holiday a chance to increase the Pilgrim lead with 10 seconds remaining.  Holiday missed and Goshen had the rebound with one last chance for victory.

Goshen missed a shot at the buzzer, and the Lady Pilgrims escaped with an NLC victory.

Reichard lead the Pilgrims with 18 points.  Cassidy Holiday added four rebounds.

The win moves the Pilgrims to 1-0 in the NLC and 8-1 overall.  Next up is trip to Chesterton Wednesday.

The JV Pilgrims moved their record to 9-0 on the year defeating Goshen 35-22.  Clare Sheedy lead the Pilgrims with 12 points and five rebounds.
