Pilgrims News · ROCKIES DROP SECTIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

The Rockies were in foreign territory Monday night even though they were playing in the comforts of Don Kindt Soccerplex.  They were playing in an IHSAA Sectional Championship game.  The current group of Plymouth Lady Rockie soccer players had never played in a game of this magnitude before.  They fell to #5 South Bend St. Joe 4-0.  St. Joe will move on and play in the IHSAA Regional Saturday here in Plymouth.

Even though the halftime score was 0-0, the Rockies were dominated by the faster St. Joe squad.  The Lady Indians outshot the Rockies 10-1.  Goalie Cece Robinson was strong early as were her defensive teammates.

But St. Joe continued peppering the senior Rockie goalie with shots throughout the second half.  St. Joe finally found paydirt nearly seven minutes into the second half with the only goal they would need making the score 1-0 in favor of the Indians.

They would tack on three more goals in the second half ending the game with a total of 30 shots and 23 of them on goal.  The Rockies ended with six shots and only three of them on goal.

The Rockies end their 2018 season with a 12-6 record and a 3rd place finish in the NLC.  The Rockies were coached by Stephanie Ferch, Kayla Pittman, and Kelsie Hollabaugh.
