The Plymouth Rockies and the Elkhart Memorial Crimson Chargers will do battle for the very last time at The Rockpile Friday night. At the end of the 2019-2020 school year,  Elkhart Memorial and Elkhart Central will re-combine to make one high school…the Elkhart Lions with the start of the 2020 athletic season.  Mishawaka High School will be replacing Elkhart Memorial in the NLC.  The Rockies are scheduled to host Mishawaka in Week 5 during the 2020 football season.

Memorial will enter the game with a 1-2 record in the NLC and 1-3 overall.  Memorial has lost to Elkhart Central (38-7), Concord (31-27), and Warsaw (14-7).  Their lone win came against Goshen (49-24).

Memorial is coached by Scott Shaw.  He is entering his 4th year as head coach there.  His career record at Memorial is 7-28 and his overall record is 205-96 in 30 years of coaching Indiana High School football.

The Rockies enter Friday night’s contest with a 1-1 record in the NLC and 2-2 overall.  The Rockies have wins over Kokomo (35-19) and Warsaw (32-29 OT).  Their losses have been to East Noble (16-6) and Northridge (34-27).

The Rockies are coached by John Barron who is in his 15th year as the mentor of the Rockies.  His career record is 111-49.

Senior Blake Reed is leading the running game for the Rockies.  He is averaging nearly 90 yards per game.  He had a season high of 246 yards against Northridge last week.  The Crimson Chargers will be keying heavily on Blake Friday night.

Junior Joe Barron is throwing for 130 yards per game this year since taking over the starting job.  Blake Davis from his linebacker position is the leading tackler for the Rockies going for over 14 per game.

Kickoff Friday night at The Rockpile is scheduled for 7:00.  Dr. Jeff and Jenny Sheedy will be our student section sponsor this week.  The Rockie Junior Football League will also be introduced Friday night during a pre-game ceremony.

A special presentation will take place before the band performs at halftime.  Lee Lonzo representing the IHSAA and Unified Sports, will be presenting an all-school banner to Cece Robinson.  Cece organized an all-school fund raiser last year to help support the Unified Sports programs the IHSAA sponsors.  Her efforts raised over $1500 to support Unified Sports around the State of Indiana.
