2017 and 2018 Indiana State High School high jump champion Nathan Patterson competed in the 2018 Midwest Meet of Champions Saturday on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing. The meet featured track athletes from Indiana against Ohio and Michigan.
The weather Saturday in East Lansing was not conducive to excellent results as it was rainy, windy, and chilly.
Nate competed against eight other jumpers from the Midwest. He won the event going 6-8 as his best jump on the day. Only one other jumper cleared 6-6 on the day.
Nate is scheduled to compete in one more meet this summer before taking his talent west to Los Angeles and the University of Southern California Trojans.
On a side note, the NCAA high jump champion from Kansas State University won the 2018 NCAA Championship meet with a jump of 7′ 4 1/4″. Nate won the Indiana High School meet with a jump of 7′ 4″.
