The Plymouth Lady Pilgrim Basketball team hosted NLC foe Elkhart Memorial at The Rock Saturday afternoon. Dave Duncan’s girls defeated the Crimson Chargers 39-37. The Pilgrims lead throughout the contest but were challenged late by Memorial.
The game came down to a last possession by each team. Memorial had only their second lead of the game with under 30 seconds to go in the contest at 37-36. The Pilgrims had the ball and they were working for a high percentage shot. That came into the hands of Halle Reichard who launched an open three pointer with 16 seconds remaining. It SWISHED! and the Lady Pilgrims lead 39-37.
After a Memorial timeout they worked the ball for an open look but missed with five seconds remaining. A rebound attempt fell short, and the Pilgrims were victorious.
Senior Alli Andrews lead the Pilgrim attack with 15 points, four steals, and three assists. Reichard added 12 points and six rebounds.
The win moves the girls to 2-2 in the NLC and 8-8 overall. The girls host the LaPorte Slicers on Tuesday. JV tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
The JV Pilgrims kept their record perfect with a 47-20 win over Memorial. Emily LaFree lead the Pilgrims with 10 points while Alaina Clady had nine points and six rebounds.
