The Plymouth Pilgrim Basketball team hosted the Winamac Warriors Tuesday night at The Rock. It was the first time these two teams had played one another since the 1949-1950 season. The Pilgrims took down the Warriors 47-33.
The only time the Pilgrims trailed Tuesday night was the start of the game 2-0. A Garrett Tharp score on the other end knotted things up. Another score by Tharp put the Pilgrims up for good the rest of the night as the Pilgrims picked up their fourth win of the year.
Tharp was the leading scorer on the night for the Pilgrims as he established his inside presence early. He ended with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Cole Filson popped for 13 points and hauled down four rebounds. Clay Hilliard added 10 points. In all, the Pilgrims outrebounded Winamac 30-20. Kadin McCrammer had a balanced night for the Pilgrims with eight points, six rebounds, four assists, and four steals.
The win moves the Pilgrims to 4-1 on the year. Next up is a visit from Peru Friday night as they come calling to The Rock. JV tip-off is set for 6:15.
The JV Pilgrims also moved their record to 4-1 on the year with a 59-46 victory over Winamac. The Pilgrims converted nine three pointers on the night with six of them coming in the decisive second quarter. The Pilgrims outscored Winamac 18-6 in the second period.
Tim Tremaine put down 13 points for the Pilgrims. Thomas Dolan and Adam Hunter added 11 points each while Brady Hissong scored nine points to lead the Pilgrim attack. Joe Styers hauled down five rebounds while Joe Barron passed for five assists.
