The Plymouth Lady Pilgrim Basketball team took down Goshen in their NLC opener Saturday night at The Rock. The final was 33-27.
The game was evenly matched and low scoring throughout the contest. Goshen took a 14-13 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Pilgrims made some offensive adjustments at halftime, and came out to outscore the Red Hawks 12-5 in the third quarter.
The Pilgrims lead 29-21 with three minutes to go in the contest when Goshen made their last charge of the game. Three Goshen buckets cut the Pilgrim lead down to 29-27 with a minute to go. Allie Andrews was fouled with 45 seconds remaining in the contest. She calmly went to the line and sank both free throws giving the Pilgrims a 31-27 lead. A late Pilgrim bucket made the final 33-27.
Andrews lead the Pilgrim attack with 13 points and eight rebounds. Claire Tanner added seven points and Cassidy Holiday chipped in with six points.
The win moves the Pilgrims to 1-0 in the NLC and 5-4 overall. The Pilgrims host Chesterton Wednesday night at The Rock. JV start time is set for 6:15.
The JV Pilgrims kept their record perfect with a 36-12 win over Goshen. Alaina Clady hit for 11 points, six rebounds, and three assists to lead the Pilgrim attack.
