Each year the PHS Athletic Department counts on the custodial staff and ground crew to help us with many jobs throughout the school year. Outside, they take care of the football facility, three soccer fields, a practice football field, and a JV baseball field. The indoor staff helps to set up the varsity gym and auxiliary gym we use throughout the winter for our many events we host.
Along with that, they help bring in the gymnastic’s equipment and set it up for our gymnastic’s season each year. The equipment is stored in the large storage building at the football field. This is a huge undertaking by our staff as it includes much equipment including a spring floor, balance beams, uneven parallel bar apparatus, and the vault equipment. The moving and the setting up of this equipment usually takes an entire day.
The crew is lead by our Head of Maintenance Dave Schoof. He is helped by many other associates including Kody Newman, Tony Soria, Dave Rice, and Josh Soria.
This year we host three gymnastic’s events. This includes our Invitational on Saturday, 1/13/18. A total of 12 teams will be participating in the annual invite. We also host meets on Saturday, 1/20/18 and Monday, 1/22/18.
The season ends on Saturday, 3/10/18 with the State Finals on the campus of Ball State University. Our staff then has the job of taking apart the equipment and returning it to storage until next season.
We much appreciate our custodial staff and appreciate everything they do to help the Plymouth Athletic Department put on a good show for the Big Red fans each year…THANK YOU!!
