The Plymouth Rockies football team got off to a slow start in Sectional 19 play Friday night at The Rockpile.  Despite a valiant comeback the Rockies fell to East Noble 14-13.  East Noble moves on in sectional play hosting CMA next Friday night.

The Rockies trailed 14-0 midway through the third quarter before they started a drive that would cut the East Noble lead in half.  The drive ended with a 1 yard Cole Filson run for the touchdown.  Sam Tanner added the extra point, and the Rockies trailed 14-7.

After a three and out for East Noble, the Rockies appeared to start a drive early in the fourth quarter that could tie things up.  A lost fumble by the Rockies ended the drive near the East Noble 40 yard line.

After the Rockies stopped East Noble again causing them to punt, the Rockies started their final drive of the year with just over five minutes remaining in the contest.  With the help of a pass interference against East Noble, and some nifty running from the Rockies, they had the ball at the Knight’s five yard line.

Senior Benji Nixon did the rest of the work.  Nixon took the pitch, was hit twice by East Noble would be tacklers before carrying both of them across the goal line scoring the TD.

With just over a minute to go in the contest, the Rockies had a decision to make…kick the extra point for the tie probably forcing overtime, or go for the win using the two point conversion opportunity.

The Rockies chose the latter in going for the victory in regulation.  A Cole Filson pass for the two point conversion was intercepted, and the Rockies were stopped from victory ending their season with a 6-4 record.

Nixon and Blake Reed both rushed for 69 yards on the night to lead the Rockie offense.  As a team, the Rockies rushed for over 200 yards.
