The IHSAA Cross Country Semi-State was held Saturday at New Prairie High School. The Pilgrim boy’s team and Ella Hissong from the girl’s team qualified to run at this event with their performance in the IHSAA Regional last week at Culver Academy.
180 runners from four different regionals qualified to run in this race. Running and representing the Big Red was Jeff Oliver (56th place). As a senior, Jeff ran his final race for the Pilgrims and finished with his second fastest time of the year. Junior Enrique Salazar finished with his best time of the year (74th place).
Also running for the Pilgrims were Devin Rogers (113th), Brady Hissong (115th), Konnor Ray (121st), Cam Riddle (124th), and Luke Walter (175th).
As a team, the Pilgrims finished 19th out of 20 teams running in the event. They scored a total of 479 points.
Freshman Ella Hissong finished in 126th spot in the girl’s race. There were 180 girls running in the race. Her time was her 3rd fastest time of the year on the difficult New Prairie course.
Lowell High School won the boy’s race while Valparaiso High School won the girl’s race. The IHSAA State Finals will take place next Saturday at Terre Haute.
