The Rockies freshmen football team went on the road Wednesday night to Syracuse to take on NLC opponent Wawasee.  The Rockies had a happy bus ride home as they just got by the Warriors 28-26.

The Rockies scored twice in the first half.  The first TD came on a 24 yard pass from Jake Reichard to Collin Mills.  Reichard also scored on a short run before half giving the Rockies a 14-12 lead at halftime.

The Rockies opened the second half with a seven minute drive that lead to a Donny Poczik three yard run for a TD.  The extra point failed and the Rockies lead 20-12.

Wawasee would come back and eventually take a 26-20 lead on the Rockies.  Collin Mills got loose for an 18 yard touchdown run to knot the score at 26-26.  Mills would add the two-point conversion and the Rockies lead 28-26.

The Rockie defense would eventually stop Wawasee late in the game as they fell short on a fourth down conversion.  Daniel Bacon added a 20 yard sack during this defensive stand.

The Rockies would eventually run out the clock to secure the NLC victory.

The win moves the freshmen to 1-4 in the NLC and 2-5 overall.  The Rockies host Concord next Thursday night at The Rockpile.  Game time is set for 5:30.
