The Plymouth Pilgrim baseball team celebrated their 2017 seniors Monday night at Bill Nixon Field in a pre-game ceremony. They then preceded to beat the Knox Redskins 10 – 2.
Senior Grant Stukenborg got the nod on the hill for the Pilgrims. He shut down Knox in his six innings only giving up one earned run and three hits while striking out nine Redskins on the night.
The Pilgrims countered with 11 hits of their own. Cam Dennie and Ezra Winkle each had two hits. Dennie had a double while Winkle added a two run bomb in the sixth.
Jeremy Drudge also had a two run homer and a sacrifice fly in driving in three runs on the night. Stukenborg also added a two run homer of his own.
The Pilgrims finish the year with a 13 – 13 record. Next up is the post season as the Pilgrims host the 2017 IHSAA Sectional later this week. The Pilgrims play Thursday evening at 8:00 against South Bend Adams.
The JV Pilgrims fell to Caston in a preliminary JV contest Monday night in Centennial Park to Caston 8 – 4. Six Pilgrim pitchers toed the rubber with Garrett Schrameyer taking the loss. Tim Tremaine and Grant Dexter each had RBI singles for the Pilgrims.
The JV Pilgrims finish the year with a 9 – 9 overall record while the C Team Pilgrims finished at 5 – 2. The young Pilgrims were coached by Mitch Bowers and Braydon Davidson.
