The 51st Annual IHSAA Baseball tournament will get underway later this week. The Pilgrim baseball team will be hosting the IHSAA Sectional and Semi-State levels of play. LaPorte will host the Regional, while once again, Victory Field in Indianapolis, will host each the Championship Games of the four class tournament.
Sectional play will get underway this week at Bill Nixon Field in Centennial Park on Wednesday evening. Game 1 will feature the South Bend Clay Colonials facing off against the favorite of this years tourney, the LaPorte Slicers.
First round play will continue Thursday night at 6:00 as South Bend Riley will take on Michigan City. That will be followed by the host Pilgrims facing off against South Bend Adams.
If any first round games get interrupted by rain, these game(s) will be completed on Friday.
Semi-Final action will continue Saturday at 1:00 PM. Game 4 of the tournament will feature the bye drawn team, the Mishawaka Cavemen. They will face the Clay/LaPorte winner starting at 1:00. Game 5 of the tournament will be the Riley/Michigan City winner taking on the Plymouth/Adams winner at approximately 3:30.
The two Saturday winners will face off Memorial Day night starting at 6:00 PM in the Championship Game. The sectional winner will continue on in the tournament and play in the LaPorte Regional.
Individual session tickets are $6.00 each. A tourney ticket will cost $10.00. These prices are set by the IHSAA.
The IHSAA Regional takes place on Saturday, 6/3/17. The Plymouth Sectional winner will face the Chesterton Sectional winner at 10:30 AM (EST). The Munster Sectional winner will take on the Elkhart Memorial Sectional winner in Game 2. The two winning teams will advance to the Regional Championship game that night in LaPorte starting at 7:00 PM (EST).
