The Pilgrim baseball team fell in a hard fought NLC battle Wednesday night at Elkhart Memorial. The 10 inning game ended in favor of the Crimson Chargers 3 – 2.
The Pilgrims took an early 2 – 0 lead after two innings but could not dent the scoreboard after that. Noah Pesak was the only Pilgrim with two hits on the night. The Pilgrim hitters struck out 14 times on the night.
The Pilgrims did have an offensive threat in the 8th inning with runners on first and second with only one out. But both runners were eventually picked off on the same play and the scoring threat ended.
Nate Nixon went six innings on the night striking out nine and only allowing four hits. Ezra Winkle took the loss in relief.
The loss drops the Pilgrims to 4 – 4 in the NLC and 8 – 6 overall. The next scheduled game is Friday at Concord.
The JV PiIgrims picked up a win Wednesday night. They defeated Memorial 6 – 3 scoring all six runs in their last two at bats.
Shaun Frantz drove in the eventual winning run in the 7th inning for the Pilgrims. Tommy Dolan homered for the Pilgrims.
Joe Barron started and went five innings for the Pilgrims. Dolan went the last two innings getting the win.
The win moves their NLC record to 6 – 1 and 6 – 5 overall.
