The Plymouth Lady Pilgrims traveled through the snow and cold Saturday to Valparaiso. They came home with their first defeat of the season 54-38.
The Pilgrims came out hot scoring the first nine points of the game. They lead 12-7 at the end of quarter number in spite of 10 turnovers that limited their scoring chances.
Valparaiso took their first lead of the game late in the second quarter and lead the Pilgrims 21-19 at halftime. Once again numerous turnovers limited the Pilgrim scoring chances as they had 20 turnovers in the first half.
Turnovers continued to plague the Pilgrims in the 3rd quarter as they had 10 more and trailed Valpo 38-28 at the end of three quarters.
Nicole Horvath and Allie Andrews lead the Pilgrims offensively on the night. They scored 15 and 14 points respectively. Horvath was 9-11 from the FT line while Andrews was 3-6 behind the three point arc. Horvath added 12 rebounds on the night. The Pilgrims ended the night with 35 turnovers.
The loss drops the Pilgrims to 4-1 on the year. Next up for the Pilgrims is Logansport. They travel to the Land of the Berries and play at the Berry Bowl Tuesday. JV tipoff is scheduled for 6:00.
The JV Pilgrims remained undefeated as the defeated Valpo 32-26 Saturday night. Cece Robinson lead the Pilgrim effort scoring 13 points. She also added five rebounds. Christin Davidson and Kenzie Quissell each added six points. The win moves the JV Pilgrims to 5-0 on the year.
