The Pilgrim basketball team traveled to Lapaz Tuesday night to take on the Laville Lancers.  The Pilgrims came home victors 29-20 moving their record to 3-0 on the year.

The victory was a struggle all night long as both teams extended their defenses causing their opponent numerous turnovers.  The Pilgrims ended up with 17 turnovers on the night.  Also neither team shot the ball well resulting in a low point production game.  The Pilgrims only shot 24% on the night.

The Pilgrims only lead 20-16 at the end of three quarters.  A 9-4 advantage by the Pilgrims in the fourth quarter upped the final total to 29-20 in favor of the Pilgrims.

The Pilgrims were lead by freshman Halle Reichard with seven points on the night.  She was followed by teammates Nicole Horvath and Alli Andrews with five points apiece.  Horvath lead the rebounding effort with seven followed by Andrews with four boards.

The JV Pilgrims also won last night outscoring the Lancers 39-12.  The win also moves their record to 3-0 on the year.

Both teams will be in action again Thursday night at The Rock.  The Lady Pilgrims will host county-rival Triton.  JV tip-off is scheduled for 6:00.

Thursday night will also be Jefferson Jet night at The Rock.  The Jefferson Elementary School girl’s basketball team will be introduced before the tip-off of the varsity game.  Also the Jefferson School choir will perform the National Anthem.
