The 2015-2016 edition of the Plymouth Lady Pilgrim Basketball team debuts tonight at New Prairie. JV start time is set for 6:00 PM (EST).
Coach Dave Duncan returns for his fourth year as head coach of the Lady Pilgrims. He has a career 48-21 record in his three previous years leading the Pilgrims. John Horvath is back to assist at the varsity level.
Two new faces will be helping out at the varsity level this year. Rebekah Legan joined our teaching staff at PHS this year. Coach Legan comes via Tippecanoe Valley High School (2004) and the University of Evansville (2008) where she honed her skills on the court. Coach Legan was inducted into U of E Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013. For the last four years she has been an assistant coach at the University of Toledo. Also joining the staff as a volunteer is Brandi Sullivan. Coach Sullivan played for the Pilgrims while in high school. She is a 2004 graduate of PHS.
Eric Carmichael returns as the JV coach while Dan Dewar is back as the freshmen coach.
The Pilgrims return four players with some varsity experience from last year. They include 5-10 junior Nicole Horvath, 5-5 senior Kara Morwood, 5-6 sophomore Alli Andrews, and 5-3 junior Ashley Harrell.
The schedule contains all seven NLC teams. One new opponent to the schedule this year includes the Logansport Berries on Tuesday, 11/24/15. The Pilgrims travel to the Berry Bowl this year. The schedule also includes the varsity basketball shootout with Norwell, Indianapolis Brebeuf, and Wawasee. The shootout is scheduled this year for Saturday, 1/2/16 at Brebeuf.
The season concludes with the IHSAA sectional starting Tuesday, 2/2/16 and concluding with the championship game on Saturday, 2/6/16. The sectional will be held this year at South Bend Clay High School.
