The girl’s soccer team finally opened their season Thursday night at Don Kindt Soccerplex against the Argos Dragons. The Dragons prevailed over the Rockies 3-1. The Rockies had been scheduled to open on Monday this week but their season opener was delayed because of lightning.
The Rockies and Dragons battled through a scoreless first half. The Rockies struck first in the second half. Alli Andrews sent a corner kick in front of the net and Emily Morris headed it home for the first goal of the season. Argos tied the score moments later, and took the lead midway through the second half on a point blank penalty kick. A third Argos score came with about eight minutes remaining in the game.
The Rockies will continue their season Saturday at Kindt Soccerplex. They face the Logansport Berries at 11:00 AM. The varsity game will be played first followed by the JV game.
