The Pilgrim baseball team traveled to Lafayette Friday and Saturday to participate in the McCutcheon Baseball Invitational.  The field included Columbus North (#2 ranked in 4A), McCutcheon (#8 ranked in 4A), and Crown Point (recently dropped out of Top 10 4A Poll).

The round robin tourney started Friday night with the host Mavericks taking on the Pilgrims.  The Mavs posted three runs in the first inning and didn’t look back besting the Pilgrims 6-0.

Brandon Milligan took the loss on the mound for the Pilgrims.  Cody Gamble was the only Pilgrim to record more than one hit.

The Pilgrims played Columbus North in their first game on Saturday.  The Pilgrims used a walk-off two run homer by Spencer Mae-Croft to beat the #2 ranked Bulldogs 11-9.

Brayden Davidson lead the 14 hit Pilgrim attack with three hits.  Justin Drudge added two hits and four RBI’s.  Gamble and David Bacon added two hits each.

Joey Dragani worked four innings giving up three unearned runs.  Davidson pitched the seventh inning to pick up the win.

The Pilgrims played Crown Point in the nightcap losing 5-3 to the Bulldogs.  The Pilgrims had a 3-2 lead with six outs to go but could not hold on for the victory.

Cam Eveland went the distance for the Pilgrims taking the loss.  Joe Smith had two hits and an RBI while Elijah Nixon had two RBI’s.

The Pilgrims finish their regular season Monday night at Bill Nixon Field hosting the Knox Redskins.  Game time is set for 7:00.
