The Plymouth Pilgrims will open up Sectional 3 play Wednesday night at Penn High School.  The Pilgrims will play game one against South Bend Clay beginning at 6:00 PM.  Clay enters sectional play with an 8-15 record while the Pilgrims are 14-7.

Clay is coached by Joe Huppenthal.  He is in his 19th year coaching at Clay and 25th year overall.  He is 204-222 at Clay and 307-249 overall.  Clay is 3-2 against sectional opponents this year.  They have defeated Mishawaka, SB Washington, and SB Adams.  They have lost to Penn and SB Riley.

The Pilgrims are coached by Ryan Bales.  He is in his 4th year at Plymouth and 10th year overall.  He is 62-28 at Plymouth and 146-80 overall.  The Pilgrims are 3-0 against sectional opponents this year.  They have defeated Mishawaka, SB Riley, and Penn.

The Pilgrims and SB Clay have met seven times in history.  The Pilgrims lead the all-time series 4-3.  The most recent meeting occurred during the 1983-84 season.  Clay defeated the Pilgrims 53-46 as part of the South Bend Holiday Tourney held at the ACC.  The last time the Pilgrims defeated Clay was during the 1976-77 season 76-40 in the holiday tourney.  The Pilgrims were lead by seniors Bob Albertson, Rik Kain, Steve Keiser, and John Wendel.

SB Clay has an all senior starting line-up.  They are lead by 6-4 Dion Harris (14.9 PPG, 8.9 RPG), 6-3 Martavious Richmond (12.9 PPG), 5-10 Dante Franklin (9.4 PPG), 6-1 Sherard Cosey (8.6 PPG), and 6-0 Traylon Simpson (5.7 PPG).

The Pilgrims are lead by 6-4 junior Josh Anders (13.5 PPG), 6-4 senior Tyler England (11.3 PPG), 5-11 sophomore Nick Felke (10.2 PPG), 6-1 junior Cam Eveland (8.2 PPG), and 6-1 senior Reis Yoder (6.8 PPG).

The winner of this game moves on to the semi-final round in game 2 Friday night at 7:30.  They will play the winner of the Penn/SB Washington game.
