Multiple Teams · PILGRIMS TRAVEL TO PERU TONIGHT

The Pilgrims jump back into the bus tonight and head down US 31 to the Tig-Arena II in Peru.  This rivalry dates back to the 1937-38 season when they met for the first time.  Peru won that first match-up 35-30.  Those early year games occurred because both Peru and Plymouth were part of the Central Indiana Conference. Peru dominated those early games.  Peru and Plymouth continued their play against one another until Plymouth left the CIC and joined the newly formed Northern Lakes Conference during the 1964-65 season.

The Pilgrims and Tigers did not play again until the 1997-98 semi-state held on the campus of Ball State University.  It was a classic game.  It featured the great athleticism of Peru vs. the disciplined play of Jack Edison’s Pilgrims.  The game was decided by junior Nick Chaney’s 3 pointer at the buzzer.

The Peru and Plymouth basketball game is now a regular game on both team’s schedule.  The Pilgrims have dominated the more recent games winning 15 of the last 17 games.  The Pilgrims lead the all-time series against Peru 24-19 with last year’s win at home 57-44.

JV tip-off is set for 6:00 tonight.  If you cannot attend the game, you can listen on AM 1050 WTCA or FM 106.1.  Brian Kunze and John Scott call all the action for you.
