The Plymouth High School Athletic Department wish all Pilgrim/Rockie fans a happy and safe Thanksgiving.  We would also like to remind you the opening of the boy’s basketball season is Saturday, 11/29/14.  The Pilgrims open up against Marshall County rival Bremen.  The Lions opened their season Wednesday night traveling to Argos.  The Dragons under new head coach Gordon Mosson defeated Bremen 65-50.  JV start time is set for 6:15.

You might notice a couple different things about basketball this year.  One is JV quarters will now be 7:00 minutes long instead of the usual 6:00 minutes.  Another change is the schedule.  The IHSAA has allowed schools to schedule 22 games this year instead of the normal 20 games.

The Pilgrims started out this season by having their scrimmage at Munster High School.  Their scrimmage opponent the last several years, South Bend Riley, is now on our regular schedule.  The Pilgrims will visit South Bend to take on the Wildcats during Christmas break on December 23rd.  We picked up Kouts on a one year contract, and play them on Valentine’s Day afternoon.  The reason it is played in the afternoon is because the girl’s sectional championship is played that night at The Rock.

Another change noted on the schedule this year is a Shoot-Out at Westview. The Pilgrims will participate in this shoot-out on December 30th.  Other teams involved include Lakeland and East Noble.  This Shoot-Out will also include the JV and freshmen teams.

The 2014-2015 boy’s sectional will be played at Penn High School this year.  The sectional is scheduled for the week of March 1st.

More changes are in the offing for next season with the Pilgrims on their schedule.  The Pilgrims will actually open their season on the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving.
