Pilgrims News · The Race to Nowhere in Youth Sports

The following is an article written by John O’Sullivan.  The article is about something the athletic office at Plymouth High School is a strong believer of…NOT PUSHING OUR STUDENT-ATHLETES TO ONLY PLAY ONE SPORT.

With the enrollment of Plymouth High School closer to the bottom of the NLC than the top, it is imperative our student-athletes are involved in multiple sports.  Some parents and coaches push their athlete to “specialize” in one sport increasing their chance of an athletic scholarship.

From my own personal experience with college recruiting, schools want to see athletes compete in multiple sports throughout their high school career.  Colleges want their recruits competing as much as possible throughout the school year.
